Expeditions

Two worlds.

One approach.

The kind of access that only comes from knowing where to look, and being willing to wait.

Some people come back from these expeditions with photographs. All of them come back having seen something they cannot unsee — in the wilderness, and in themselves. That is not a promise. It is simply what tends to happen when you slow down enough to let a wild place arrive.

Safari

Into the bush

A wild elephant knocks down a tree in the African savanna during a dramatic sequence of photographs.

There is a particular quality of light in Africa in the last hour before dark. The bush goes quiet. The animals move. Something in you shifts to meet it. These expeditions are built around that moment, approached slowly, in small numbers, with someone who has spent years learning to read the land.

South Luangwa & Lower Zambezi

9 days · 8 guests maximum

Two of Zambia's great wilderness areas, back to back. Four days in South Luangwa, where the walking safari was born and leopards move through the night in numbers found almost nowhere else. Four days on the Lower Zambezi, where elephants wade through river channels that catch the last of the afternoon light.

OCEAN

Below the surface

A group of manta rays gracefully glide through clear blue ocean waters near a coral reef.

Underwater, the familiar rules dissolve. Time slows. Your breath becomes the loudest thing in the world. The animals decide.

People who have never dived before and people who have dived for decades describe the experience in the same words, as something that changed the way they see.

These expeditions go to the places where that is still possible.

Playa del Carmen, Cozumel & the Cenotes

8 days · 10 guests maximum

Three worlds in eight days. The coral walls of Cozumel, where current-swept reefs drop into open blue. The open water off Playa del Carmen, where barracuda school in silver columns. And the cenotes, the underground rivers of the Yucatán, where freshwater meets saltwater in a halocline that turns the world to glass.
